Spiritual Growth Groups
Spiritual growth groups are made up of small group of adults who get
together to explore spiritual and personal growth issues. A number of
these groups have formed throughout the years, and usually a new one is
formed whenever there is enough interest generated. These groups are open
for a short time and then close. The members of the group determine the
direction and scope of the group's study.
A longtime member of a spiritual growth group writes:
One spiritual growth group has met, in various permutations, for
over eleven years. It was started by Margaret Trisolini, who now lives
in North Carolina. Four to ten of us meet every Sunday night for two hours
in members' homes. We have at times followed a UU format, as in the "Evensong"
series. Sometimes we discuss a book one of us is reading, or go through
a book as a group. We've wondered about how the earth got here, why we
are here, what the future will be like, what happens after death. We share
joys and concerns of our daily lives, our families, our fellowship, our
nation. We may share readings, art, or music that has been meaningful
to us. From time to time, we have a "fun night," with games,
jokes, and food. We are growing individually and as a group.
