Uncommon SUUmmer Experience: Monday

Each day had a “theme.” Monday’s theme was “The Interconnected Web.” Adults and kids alike participated in a name learning game and then went outside to plant a new garden along the fellowship. Playing in the dirt and planting plants can be a messy business! After snack time, students each got their own jar to start alfalfa sprouts. Taking care of the sprouts became a daily occurrence, as they had to be rinsed everyday.

While the seeds were safely soaking, students drew pictures and used stickers to create their own representation of the interconnected web. Those pictures can be seen hanging on the wall downstairs. Drawing time gave way to story time, as we learned about earth, air, fire and water and how important that was to our garden. The day ended with us singing a song and learning a dance to go with it.
