Uncommon SUUmmer Experience: Thanks by Sonja Coble

I want to thank all of the adults who helped. The planning committee, who helped put together the week’s agenda and came up with the themes: Eli Olin, Barb Harrison, Heather Johnson, Dave Whealey and myself. The folks who worked with the kids during the mornings: Roberta Roberson, Shelly Riggs, Eli Olin, De Sanders, Barb Harrison and myself. Roberta planned and took care of all of our healthy snacks for the week. Eli managed the sprouts and did the coordination with the Buddhist monk planners. Shelly put together storybooks and songs (and a world map) and then jumped right in with whatever was needed – including leading movement activities and songs. De helped with snacks and watched kids on the playground and lent kids a helping hand when needed. Barb Harrison took care of the cupcake brigade, as well as talked to kids about her role in the composting project and why it’s important to our community.
Some other behind the scenes help was given by Dana Gardner who made the connection to the Cat Shelter. We are grateful to Tracy (Humane Society President) for coming and opening the shelter up especially for us. Also, the help from Chelsea Clark and Vivian Dunbar was much appreciated. I would also like to thank Don Coble for getting the garden ready to plant and for helping me buy all of the week’s arts and crafts supplies, as well as all of the gardening supplies.
And without the help of the people who stayed and cleaned up the basement of the fellowship, well, the week wouldn’t have been the same, so thanks to: Cathy McDonald, Dave Whealey, Mairyann Wrentmore, Bob Whealey, Don & Sonja Coble, De & Steve Sanders, and Jesse & Roberta Roberson, and that nice young woman in the sarong whose name I do not know.
And of course, I want to thank the parents who somehow managed to get their kids to and from the program everyday.
