Uncommon SUUmmer Experience: Wednesday
 |
Wednesday’s theme was “Buddhism.”
The morning started off with students making plaster of paris hand
prints. After that messy activity, we cleaned up and broke into groups
to discuss religion, spirituality, and different beliefs. The older
kids talked about the specifics of Buddhism. Our field trip this day
was to see the Buddhist monks create the sand mandala in Siegfried
Hall. |
| Because of some thoughtful preplanning connections made
by Eli Olin, the children received wonderful coloring books about
the Buddhism from the event organizers. Our kids were so well-behaved
and quiet during this field trip – eyes big as saucers while
watching the monks create this sacred work. The monks really enjoyed
having the children there too. When we got back to the fellowship,
we ended up coloring in our books instead of doing the other planned
activities. |
